When Shane Vanstrom was in college, his evening's "homework" was manning a 10-foot sailboat through Chesapeake Bay at 15 knots, readying for races against university competitors like Harvard and the Naval Academy.
Even when the bright blue, 75-degree skies seemed to suggest that it would be more fun to take it easy, Shane wanted the sailing team to achieve national ranking.
This team-driven boat work, in addition to successfully carrying his full academic load at Old Dominion University, later prepared Shane to captain the marketing helm of the family business, Eastern Hospitality Advisors.
As EHA Executive Vice President, Shane is in charge of the company's promotional platforms, as well as technology and day-to-day operations. Shane also works directly with his father, Douglas Vanstrom, to head up the sales division and administration.
With Douglas' experience and Shane's fresh ideas, they are able to provide hotel owners with the highest quality of service, dependability, and customer satisfaction.
As Shane explains, it's the face-to-face approach and highly-reputable word-of-mouth references that helps hotel entrepreneurs and franchisees choose EHA over working with general contractors. The fact that EHA is less expensive than general contracting – and can prove it – often inks the deal fast.
Should they step aboard, any client partner would trust Shane as captain of his current yacht, Sails Call. Yet few may know of his greatest race: a 2002 fundraiser for Niagara Hospice named for his boating friend, John Beatty, whose life was cut short by cancer.
John Beatty was there that day in spirit, making the race one of the greatest Shane ever completed – an altogether different kind of win.
